Your data stays
with you.
Last updated: July 26, 2026
RoamCount is built around a simple idea: your travel history is sensitive, so it should live on your device — not on our servers. This policy explains what information the RoamCount app and website handle, what little we actually collect, and the choices you have.
1. Who we are
RoamCount (“RoamCount”, “we”, “us”) provides the RoamCount mobile application and the website at roamcount.app (together, the “Service”). You can reach us any time at hello@vanxh.dev.
2. Data that stays on your device
The core of RoamCount runs locally on your phone. The following information is created and stored on your device and is not transmitted to RoamCount servers:
- Travel history and day counts — the countries you have visited, entry and exit dates, and the day-count records RoamCount calculates from them.
- Location data — country-level location information used to detect border crossings, including in the background if you grant background location permission. Processing happens on-device.
- Photo metadata — if you choose to restore past trips from your photo library, RoamCount reads location and date metadata from your photos locally. Your photos and their metadata are not uploaded to us.
- Tracked rules and settings — the visa windows, residency tests, and custom thresholds you configure.
Because this data lives on your device, it is covered by your device’s own protections (such as your passcode and iOS encryption) and by any backups you control, such as iCloud device backups managed by Apple under Apple’s terms. If the app offers iCloud sync or backup and you enable it, that copy is stored in your own iCloud account, protected by your Apple credentials — it is not transmitted to us, and we have no access to it.
3. Data we do collect
We collect as little as we can. Depending on how you interact with the Service, this may include:
- Email address — if you join the early access list or contact support, we receive your email address and the contents of your message. We use it to respond to you and to send updates about RoamCount.
- Crash and diagnostic reports — if you have enabled sharing analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple provides us with aggregated, de-identified crash and usage diagnostics. These do not include your travel history.
- Basic website logs — our hosting provider processes standard technical data (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) to serve the website securely. We do not use this to build profiles of visitors.
- Purchase information — purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through your Apple ID; we never see your payment details. To validate subscriptions we use RevenueCat, which receives anonymous purchase and receipt data (such as a random app-scoped identifier and transaction records) — never your location, photos, or travel history. See the RevenueCat privacy policy.
- Advertising attribution and app activity — we use the Meta SDK to understand whether an advertisement led to an app install, trial, or subscription and to measure and improve our advertising. Depending on your device settings and consent, the SDK may process app events, device information, IP address, and advertising or app-scoped identifiers. It does not receive your travel history, precise location, photos, or the rules you track. See the Meta Privacy Policy.
4. How we use information
- To operate, maintain, and improve the app and website.
- To respond to support requests and early access sign-ups.
- To understand crashes and fix bugs.
- To attribute installs and subscription outcomes to advertising campaigns, measure campaign performance, and improve our advertising.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use or share your travel history, precise location, photos, or tracked rules for advertising.
5. Advertising attribution, Meta, and RevenueCat
RoamCount uses the Meta SDK for advertising attribution and measurement. On iOS, the app asks for permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (“ATT”) prompt before accessing the Identifier for Advertisers (“IDFA”) or tracking your activity across other companies’ apps and websites. If you allow tracking, Meta may use the IDFA and related device and app-event data to attribute installs and subscription outcomes to our ads. If you deny tracking, the IDFA is not made available to the app for this purpose; attribution may instead rely on limited, privacy-preserving, aggregated, or app-scoped signals permitted by Apple.
RevenueCat manages subscription status for RoamCount. We configure RevenueCat to send subscription lifecycle and revenue events to Meta, such as trial starts, trial conversions, initial purchases, renewals, non-renewing purchases, and associated revenue amounts, so we can measure advertising performance. These events may include an anonymous app-user identifier and permitted attribution identifiers, but they do not include your travel history, precise location, photos, or tracked rules. We take steps to avoid sending duplicate purchase events from both RevenueCat and the Meta SDK.
You can deny tracking by choosing Ask App Not to Track when the ATT prompt appears. You can later review or change this choice in iOS under Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → RoamCount. You may also turn off Allow Apps to Request to Track for all apps. Denying tracking does not prevent you from using RoamCount’s core features or managing a subscription.
6. Sharing
We share limited information only with service providers who help us run and measure the Service — including RevenueCat for subscription management, Meta for advertising attribution and measurement, an email provider used to deliver early access updates, and the hosting provider that serves this website. Their processing is limited to the purposes described in this policy and governed by their own privacy terms. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of RoamCount and its users.
7. Data retention
Data stored on your device remains there until you delete it, delete the app, or erase your device. Email addresses on the early access list are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you. Support correspondence is kept only as long as needed to resolve your request and maintain a reasonable record.
RoamCount does not maintain a separate database of the device identifiers, app events, or subscription events sent through the Meta SDK and RevenueCat. Meta and RevenueCat retain and delete information they process according to their respective privacy and data-retention policies. Aggregated campaign reports available to us may be retained for as long as reasonably needed to analyze advertising performance and meet legal or accounting obligations.
8. Your rights and choices
- Access, correction, deletion — your travel data is on your device, so you can review, edit, export, or delete it directly in the app at any time (Settings → Delete all local data), or by deleting the app. For data we hold (such as your email address), contact us and we will access, correct, or delete it.
- Unsubscribe — every early access email includes a way to opt out, or you can simply email us.
- Permissions — location and photo access are optional and controlled through iOS settings. The app explains what each permission is used for before asking.
- Tracking — you can deny or withdraw ATT consent at any time using the iOS tracking controls described above. Core app features remain available when tracking is denied.
Depending on where you live (for example, the EEA, UK, or California), you may have additional rights under local privacy law, such as the right to object to processing or to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. We honor these rights regardless of where you are located — just contact us.
9. Children
RoamCount is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
We design the Service to minimize the data we hold — the most sensitive data never reaches us. For the limited data we do process, we use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service evolves. If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
